Thanks Nicole an important question!

For MHPSS the most important is to make sure there is no increase of signs of distress and stress. This is to ensure that the practices are not causing harm rather they are promoting a sense of wellbeing and helping children and their teachers to feel safe, empowered and well.

The important changes to measure is if children have increased in their confidence in interacting with others, if their confidence has increased when talking and being able to express how they feel and to voice if they are experiencing challenges in their work. We also want to see children become curious about and engaged with their surrounding environment. These are just some small ways we can see that children’s sense of wellbeing has increased and they are feeling safe and confident from the practices.

I hope this has helped, this is an important part of the practices to safeguard the wellbeing of children and staff in your settings.
